The reason is that metal pieces could be in the ice cream.

One customer reported finding metal in a 48 oz. container of Weis Quality Cookies and Cream Ice Cream.

The company is concerned that more containers could be affected.

The ice cream has been pulled from 197 Weis Markets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and West Virginia, the FDA announced.

The ice cream has a UPC of 041497-01253 with a 10/28/2021 sell-by date.

Some varieties of Klein’s ice cream that are sold in bulk have also been recalled.

About 665 containers of Klein’s Cookies and Cream Dairy Bulk and 286 containers of Nelson’s Graham Slam Bulk products, both with package dates of 10/28/2020, have also been recalled. They are sold in 3-gallon bulk containers with the code stamp of 0302, and are labeled not for retail sale. They were all apparently in storage and not distributed.

A single container of Klein’s Vanilla bulk ice cream was also recalled and has been removed from sale.

If you have any questions, you are told to call Weis Customer Service at 1-866-999-9347, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
