Police: Man arrested in Pennsylvania for allegedly buying human remains on Facebook

EAST PENNSBORO TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police say they have arrested a man in Pennsylvania for allegedly buying human remains on Facebook.

In a news release from the East Pennsboro Township Police Department, Jeremy Pauley was arrested on Thursday and charged with abuse of a human corpse, receiving stolen property and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities.

EPTPD said that on June 14 at around 7 a.m., their officers received a call about suspicious activity in Enola, Pennsylvania. During their investigation, they learned that Pauley was allegedly purchasing human remains from a woman in Arkansas.

EPTPD said the remains were located in Enola, Scranton and in Arkansas. Pauley was allegedly trying to buy them on Facebook for “monetary gain.”

Pauley was arrested and released on a $50,000 bail, according to WHTM. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 14.

FBI Harrisburg, FBI Scranton, FBI Arkansas, Arkansas State Police, Cumberland County Coroner’s Office, Cumberland County Forensics Division, Bloomsburg Police Department, United States Postal Service, and the Pennsylvania State Police, all worked with EPTPD on the investigation, according to WHTM.

No further information has been released.
