According to the report, provided by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to WFTV and WFLA-TV, the 72-year-old worker was found Monday morning by a courthouse deputy inside the cell in a secure area at the Orange County Courthouse. The deputy had seen an unaccompanied cleaning cart on the 23rd floor of the courthouse before discovering the worker, WFTV reported.

According to the incident report, the woman told authorities she was cleaning the holding cell at about 9:30 p.m. EST when the door shut behind her, locking her in the enclosure. The woman added that she could not call for help because she had left her cellphone on her janitorial cart, which was located outside the cell, according to WFTV.

Authorities said there was no food in the cell, WFLA reported. However, the woman was able to drink water from a small faucet located on top of the cell’s toilet, according to WFTV.

According to the incident report, the woman told deputies that she was diabetic and had not taken any insulin since Friday. She was given food to help stabilize her blood sugar levels, WFTV reported.

Orange County officials said Tuesday that the lock on the holding cell was defective and has since been replaced, according to the television station.
