To help entrepreneurs and established companies commercialize new technologies, the UTSA Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship and Jackson Walker LLP partner to host the CITE Technology Entrepreneurship Boot Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 in the Richard Liu Auditorium in the Business Building (BB 2.01.02) on the UTSA Main Campus. The daylong boot camp will offer participants an intensive crash course on the commercialization and start up of new technology companies. Throughout the day, experts from local companies such as Live Oak Logic, Jackson Walker LLP, Startech and Invictus Engineering will discuss fundamental technology entrepreneurship topics such as identifying an opportunity, prototypes and developing a product, securing start-up funds and organizing your new business, business planning and pitching, protecting your intellectual property and marketing your innovative idea. The keynote speaker for the event is Ian Clements, co-founder, president and chief executive officer of ViroXis, a San Antonio-based bio-pharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing botanical pharmaceuticals derived from sandalwood oil to aid the treatment of various skin disorders. With 20 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, he specializes in optimizing clinical and project development for start up companies. The CITE Entrepreneurship Boot Camp is co-sponsored by the UTSA College of Business, College of Engineering, Office of the Vice President for Research, Jackson Walker LLP and Startech. Registration is free for UTSA students, faculty and staff, as well as students and faculty from other institutions of higher education. The cost for the general public is $95 and can be paid by cash or check starting at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event. $95 for general public; FREE for students & faculty of any college/university.
