When the North St. Mary's strip, the closest thing San Antonio has to an "entertainment district", was in serious danger of being re-zoned and sold to developers in the early-1990's, Evo & Carol Mini came to it's rescue.... The Minis purchased several buildings, and opened a number of night clubs centering around live music. Through their venues The Crazy Horse Saloon, The Time Out, The Bistro and others, they not-only gave SA music fans an oasis of live blues, jazz, roots, rockabilly and rock & roll, but they also supported and put to work countless musicians. The Minis even gave an up & coming guitarist a place to live, in the apartment in the rear of The Crazy Horse, when he was down on his luck. Put simply, they're good people. Fast forward to 2012.... Evo & Carol Mini, both now in their 70's, are suffering with Alzheimers. They are both in assisted living, so their health concerns are being addressed. However, the Minis' entire pensions are now going directly to the care center, and because they have no other income, they and their daughter & caretaker Kelli, are in danger of losing the family home to foreclosure after the first of the year. In addition, Evo & Carol are without many of the simple comfort items that they deserve in their daily lives.  This benefit show is being put together to assist Evo, Carol, and their daughter Kelli in dealing with their financial hardship, as well as to provide them with a few of those simple comforts.
