Gerardo Ortega will join us at COSAS on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 & 14. Meet Gerardo and his wife Gaby and have them tell you about their family history of making these fabulous pieces of colorful and whimsical folk art using the Barro Betus technique. Barro Betus is a traditional form of pottery passed down through the generations, famous in the town of Santa Cruz de las Huertas near Guadalajara. This art form gives life to the fantastic creations of the imagination. The work is filled with expression and color and depicts many simple joys of life. The Ortegas were originally best known for their gallos or roosters and now create many different animals , trees of life, brightly colored lamps of all shapes, nativities and much more.
